English is one of the most widely spoken languages in the world, with over 1.5 billion speakers. It has borrowed words from more than 350 languages, making it a linguistic melting pot. Unlike many other languages, English has a vast vocabulary—over 170,000 words in current use!
Story-Based classes combine language learning with the magic of storytelling. Students will laugh, draw, sing, and learn German through the lens of classic fairytales. Here are the tales featured in the story-based English classes:
Rip Van Winkle
John Henry – The steel-driving man who raced against a steam drill and won, only to die with his hammer in his hand.
Dick Whittington and His Cat
The traditional English folk tale is usually titled "Dick Whittington and His Cat." It is based on the legend of Richard Whittington, a real historical figure who was Lord Mayor of London in the late 14th and early 15th centuries. The story, however, has been greatly embellished with the addition of his famous cat and the idea that he became wealthy because of it.
